A VeggieTales Review- Pistachio

I had the opportunity to review the new VeggieTales DVD.  Since my daughters are huge fans I thought it would be fun to do a family review.  Here is the synopsis of the DVD”

Once upon a time a lonely toymaker named Gelato carved a little boy out of wood who could walk, talk---and think for himself. But when Pistachio lands in a "whale" of a mess, will he learn that Father knows best? Or will his whole family become fish food? Features the silly song "Where Have All the Staplers Gone?"

I have to admit that I am fan of the “old” VeggieTales, where they take a story from the Bible and act it out with vegetables.  Esther is definitely my favourite.  With that being said I have to say that this DVD is not what I appreciate about VeggieTales.

The message being told through the story of Pistachio is good, it is about listening to your parents instead of all the other voices you hear trying to lead you in negative directions. But I found that they are trying to tell too many stories within one story and it just doesn’t connect for me.

But since this is a family review I will have to give you the review from my daughters ages 6 & 8.  They said that they really like it and how it teaches you to listen to your parents.  My oldest really liked the Silly Song.

The DVD kept their attention, but I have realized that they have not asked to watch it again.  You would think as a parent that I would be encouraging the viewing of this video but it was just an okay for this household.

  1. I found that with Lord of the Beans, too. My kids watched it once and that was it. But they have loved the last few. Thanks for the heads-up on this one!
