potential words

I am teaching a class at the Prince Albert Arts Centre.  It is for girls ages 13-16, and I am so excited!  I have been working on something special and I am going to unveil it to this class.

During this course you will be encouraged to be your BEST you!

Live up to and beyond your potential. Through a variety of exercises, art and journaling you will begin to see your true self emerge and be amazed. We will be working through a variety of areas to help you find balance that will lead to a greater understanding of who you are.

Tuesdays, February 26 – March 26 from 4:30–5:30 pm and the investment for the 5 classes is only $50.

Register in person at the Prince Albert Arts Centre before February 20th or call 953-4811 for more information.

A time and a place….

For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven.   Ecclesiastes 2:1

I recently read that scripture at a funeral for a very close family friend that passed away just before Christmas.  It is a journeypassage of scripture that will not leave my mind.

I always find that as a new year approaches I do a lot of reflecting on what my year looked like upon reflection.  Every New Year’s since I was a teen I write in my journal on New Year’s Eve.

What I write now is very different from what I wrote in my teens, I wrote a post about it once HERE.  As I write I choose to look at the big picture, about my journey not any individual circumstance or situation.

Life is a journey and we all have a path that we are on and we have the opportunity to choose how we travel it.  I am hoping that at the end of my journey I hear the words “good and faithful servant.”

I saw the following quote on Pinterest and I am holding on to it for my 2013 slogan for my life.  I know that there are going to be some exciting things happening in 2013 but I also know that there will be a few character building exercises along the way as well.

I am choosing the way that I travel my path and I am looking forward in anticipation with where my feet will take me.

Fresh Brewed Monday

fresh brewed mondays[2]

I am  loving this Journaling chapter.  I was so excited to get started.  I have been working through my book Sunday mornings while my daughters are at Sunday School.  I find a quiet place, bring along my coffee and journal and get done to business.

We have missed church the last couple of weeks because of our trip to the coast, so I was happy to get back to our church family.  I have a bag that I take each week to church that carries my Bible, journal, pens, highlighters and a few things for the girls to do during church and then it carries home all the goodies the girls receive or make at church.  I had used the bag for other things while on our trip so I  quickly emptied it and through in the necessities while I was running out the door Sunday morning.  As I was running out the door I was trying to make sure that I had everything and I didn’t think that there was a pen in my bag but I didn’t have time to check I just hoped that I had one in my purse.

I dropped the girls off at their class and as I walked by the front table I noticed an envelope with my name on it.  My secret sister had left a surprise waiting for me!  I find my quiet place and get everything ready to start reading and studying the journaling chapter.  As I find the right page and start reading my mind- which is generally is going in several directions at once- remembers that special gift that I had put in my purse.  I can’t wait till I get home to open so I open the envelope to see the perfect gift at the perfect time.  A beautiful pen  with the names of Christ engraved all over it.  Beautiful!  then I began to smile  and laugh when I got to the section where Nicole is talking about things that you need to have to journal, and one is a pen that writes nicely and inspires you to write.

I now have my perfect pen for journaling.  Thank you Secret Sister!

Journal your Journey!

I love my journal. It is my place to go and think. One day as I was writing about my journal in my journal, I accidently wrote the word "journey" instead of the word "journal".

So being the analytical person that I am, I thought about, “Why did I write the word "journey?”

When I am writing in my journal, I am writing about my journey. I am writing about what God is teaching me and what I have learned as I travel along the journey that God has me on. Many times when I have a situation going on in my life WritingI write it out and then many things become apparent to me though my writing. And when I go back and read through my journal, it is so evident to see God’s hand in my life- in little and big ways along my journey.

Think about the book of Esther. I wonder how Esther felt about the presence of God in her life while on her journey. Maybe in the steps along the way she questioned God about what He was doing in her life. I know I probably would have being put into the positions that she was in. Even now as we are able to read about Esther’s journey in her own book of the Bible, even though God’s name is never mentioned you can still see how evident He was working in the lives of Esther and her cousin Mordecai.

So if you don’t keep a journal I encourage you to start, it is such a great record of your journey!
